Going to pet shop today.

I am going to try to go to the pet shop today. A while ago my gecko died and I am thinking of getting another on. If I do get another one can anyone give me some overall pointers for a tank setup and feeding? I by chance I see another lizard that I may want at my local pet shop, seeing as they get new things every week, I will post before buying it.

Tank set up and feeding would depend on the type of gecko you get. Some eat only insects , some eat fruit and different things.....research before buying is a good idea....keep us updated and let us know if you bring anything home.....

Oops, I swore I said leopard gecko but I guess I didn't. Anyways I went to the petshop to see what they had and they had a around 8 full grown female Leopard Geckos for $85. A bit out of my price range so I decided to wait until they got some younger ones in. For the fact that they will live longer and cost almost a quarter as much.

For substrate I was thinking of haveing the wood chips like in my box turtles tank. Last time I had sand but I've seen many website that say, no sand, yet the picture sof their Leopard Geckos have sand substrate. Then, I was thinking of getting some moss on the other side of the tank to keep damp. Or in a short walled bowl so the leo can climb up into it. As for heating it is around 85 in my bedroom during the day so I don't think I'd need any type of heating. If I do I would get an heater that goes under the substrate. Going to read more into it but hopefulyl I can come up with a decision.

Leopard Gecko Care

Read this before you make your move.

Any sort of particulate is a bad choice for a young gecko. Wood can hold in humidity and mold sthat are not suited for a desert lizard...good luck on getting your tank ready, ask lots of questions we will try to help as much as we can!

I guess I could settle for paper towls. I don't know but it just seems kind of boring looking at a paper towl substrate but I guess I could handle it, heh. I won't be getting the leo for a week or two anyways so I have plenty of time to plan.
