In a study with wide implications for a longstanding debate over whether agricultural chemicals pose a threat to amphibians, zoologists have found that toads in suburban areas are less likely to suffer from reproductive system abnormalities than toads near farms -- where some individual animals had both testes and ovaries.

I have no doubt in those findings. I grew up on a farm and the amount of fertilizers and pesticides being used, there is no doubt it's findings its way into streams.

Indeed! Most people have little idea of the tremendous amounts of chemicals used in the agriculture industry.
With all this stuff being applied and being washed into the water supply, it doesn't surprise me that there is mutation in a species that absorbs so much thru its skin.
This should seriously be a wakeup call as to what we are doing to the systems that WE depend on to survive!

What's Life Without A Little Magic!

This is one of the main reasons I'm trying to switch to as much organic food as possible. I mean, if those chemicals are turning problems in frogs, there is no doubt in my mind they are also creating problems for humans. Going organic solves both those problems.
