I think it's amazing that these animals posses such an ability. Imagine if female humans were this way, lol. Then most all of us would be perfect. Garter snakes can do the same thing.

Interesting. When she mates, though, does she mate with just two males, or as many as she can? The beginning of the article looked like as many as possible, but then they said she may mate with one yellow and one red to avoid the same one twice. Unless she had some other way of telling, I don't see how that could really work.
