How do I tell if they are gravid???
Silly question lol - I think my female leo who I rcently got might be gravid from a previous mating (beofre she came to me)
Can you tell from these pics?? ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, my Crested Geckos have (hopefully) been maiting - how can I tell if my female is gravid - I can't do it like Leopard Geckos as she has a dark pink red tummy so wouldn't be able to see!! Any help most gratefully welcomed

I'm not really sure how much time it will take to notice but from what I know, the best way to make sure she is pregnant is to feel her lower belly for eggs. As you can imagine, you must be very very gentle.
Better than that is to monitor her weight. If she increases size, she's most likely pregnant. Again, not sure how much time it takes for that but start watching for nesting behavior. Ops! The above answer is related to your crestie question =)

Thank you Ricardo - I am soooo hoping she is gravid - they have been making little barky noises at each other and the male has been chasing her round - I will give them a couple more days then take her out and put her into a basic tank that she can simply do her thing in but I can still find the eggs!!

If your female is gravid, you can usually see a vivid white egg shaped in her abdomen. Its hard to tell from that picture, but I dont see anything,,,this is my first year breeding Leopard Geckos, so I am a newbie to,

Hello,
I can't tell if she is gravid from those shots. The best thing to do is to just keep a moist hide in the enclosure and watch her activity. If she is gravid, she will start looking for a place to deposit the eggs. In turn, she will likely begin moving the substrate from the back of the MH which is where she will likely deposit them. Once you see her spending more time in the MH, begin checking it daily in the AM and PM. You also need to keep the mh moist. If it dries out, and you miss the eggs, they too will dry out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thansk peeps - I will be keeping a watch on Pip and after pondering over my crestie, I shall be giving her maybe a further week before she is moved into a completely basic tank - complete with laying box.
I put a peat tub into thier current tank and she has had a bash at digging in it so time willl tell if she ws playing or preparing!! Will keep you posted adn thanks

I could be wrong but it doesn't seem to me that she's gravid. My female leo gets two ovals that definitely bulge and it's noticeable enough from below and above since her sides at the waist stretch out some. I assume it's similar in the Crested Geckos. Good luck breeding :-)

Thank you Leslie
![]() I have now learnt that Crested Geckos don't necessarily expand in such a way as Leopard Geckos do - i got an egg lol |
