Another little sick one
I've done it again....I'm going and picking up a young male leo tomorrow who has all of the markers of Metabolic Bone Disease. He hasn't been to a vet because the girl i'm getting him from is just the middle man, she talked a friend into giving him up because they weren't heating his tank, providing calcium, or feeding him anything other than wc bugs.
Apparently he walks on the back of his front feet so i'm think he may have sores....I know she's had him on paper towels with furniture that is close to the ground so he wont fall off and hurt himself (he's active, but very clumsy)
She says he eats great for her, but she has to kill the mealies and kinda squish them first so their guts come out and then she dusts them and then he'll take them. She's never fed hm crickets because he's been too slow to catch them, but i'm thinking maybe they would be better for him if I were to immoblize them and give them to him. They will be softer on his rubber jaw. I might order some silkies this month too, a a treat for the others and as a way to feed him something really healthy and get his exposed to new foods.
I know that a vet visit is in order so as soon as he leaves me a poo sample i'll bring him and the sample to work to get some blood drawn and whatnot.
I'm just wondering if anyone has anything else to add to help me better help him.
If all goes as planned i'll post some pictures by monday!
