lol, I find myself short on time more often now. Yeah, some lizards can "smell" with their tongues in the same manner that snakes do, but Leopard Geckos are not one of those lizards. The ones that can though, aren't really smelling. They flick their tongues to gather particles from the air and then bring the tongue back in the mouth where the jacobsen's organ analyzes the particles. Its similar to the way smell works, but its not really the same thing. If you see a lizard with a forked tongue, or one that flicks its tongue out a lot, then they're the ones that "smell" with their tongues
Oh, and what Bitis is talking about is the funny habit many lizards have of actually tasting their surroundings. They'll touch logs, rocks, potential food, etc with their tongues to examine it, especially if its something new they've never seen (or tasted ) before.
