She's settling in!

Spirit seems to be settling in. She roams around a lot more then Miracle did. She found her mealies and had a nice snack this morning. I caught her climbing on top of her hides, even her moist hide, checking the place out. She's constantly sticking her tounge out to touch things. It's cute. I caught her yawning too. Big mouth she has!!

Aha! Now you're getting to observe the behaviour of a healthy, well-adjusted gecko! One of our favorite things is to get a gecko "kiss" -- hold them up nose to nose with you, and get a tongue-flick! If she turns out to be really handleable, you and Ash will probably be able to do the same thing LOL.

Oh it's definately amazing, the difference in behavior. Honestly, we loved Miracle, she did give us a lot of joy. She had a sweet personality. But we just didn't see her much. You'd have to search her out. But Spirit, she's quite active. I find myself going over and sitting just to watch her!

You'd have a heart attack in our herp room then LOL! SOOO many of ours come out as soon as we go into the room -- you see little eyes peering out of the front of the enclosures EVERYWHERE. One in particular we've nicknamed "Puppy Dog" (actually, I call her Mutt lol); she comes out and climbs at the front til we take her out for some lovins!

Oh how sweet! I'd love it if she becomes that friendly!! Any tips on how to make friends with her and make her feel comfy?

Best way we've found for socializing them is to handle them every day or two (I know this might conflict with what most caresheets say, but I can only tell you what has worked for us!) Try putting your hand in front of her so she can see and smell you before picking her up -- it will let her get more accustomed to you, and it helps keep from startling her. Plus, we don't push too hard -- as soon as they get fidgety, we put them directly back in the enclosure, so they know they're safe. We've actually gotten one of our most skittish fellas fairly well tamed with this method. Odin can now be taken out on a regular basis where before, as soon as a hand came near him, his tail rose up and started whipping!

Mine ate this morning for the first time as well - I got her on Saturday.
2 nice, big mealworms. I love to see them tilt their heads right before they strike.
Great to hear!
