Just got home from the Vet!
Well, I actually got home from the vet about an hour ago, but just finished very thoroughly cleaning everything in my leo's cage.
Apparently there was good reason little Leelee wasn't eating. Firstly, he did have an eye issue. I couldn't tell because it was always sort of dark when I looked at his eye since I didn't want to upset him with light. He had an "irritated" eye, but nothing serious. It was just a little cloudy and the vet thought there was still some shed in it. I got a lubricating ointment for that.
He also had, as the assistant said, "a whole lot of pinworms." Poor little guy. So I got some stuff for that and hopefully he'll get rid of them...I'm still sad though.
I was worried before the visit because I didn't have a stool sample to bring since he hadn't been going. But luckily he was upset enough when being examined that he went right there! They wouldn't have known about the pinworms if it hadn't been for that.
So now I just need to get him well....
Also, the vet told me I should get a UV bulb....I don't know about that. I thought it was okay not to have one since they're nocturnal....what do people think?

Glad you found out about the pinworms! As for the UV light though, it rally isn't necessary. Perhaps this was one of the many not-so-knowledgable herp vets out there. She may have assumed that because he is a lizard, that he requires UV exposure. Plus if she really knew what she was talking about, she would have been more specific and said UVB instead of just UV. I think he'll get along fine without the light, but the pinworm meds should help at least.

I'm not experienced in Leopard Geckos as many of our people are so I'll let your questions wait for them I'm just glad to hear that Leelee will be alright with mom's tender loving care.

Does anyone know where the pinworms could have come from? Should I change where I buy my crickets and mealies?

I just looked in the "Leopard Gecko Manual," which is what the vet quoted to me when telling me to use a UV light, and I am pretty sure it was only saying to use one if you have plants growing in there....I think it was just a misreading on his part and I really don't think I need to get one. I've even read that the light can be harmful for them since it's too strong and hurts their eyes.

Matt is correct, a UVB light is not necessary for leo geckos.
Pinworms can be transmitted through fecal matter, which could possibley be from your crickets, so it is very important to keep the animal's cage as well as your cricket keeper clean at all times.

So do you think if I make sure crickets don't stay in his cage if they aren't eaten and make sure I clean up after him right away, it's okay to get the crickets from the same supplier?
