leo humidity

what product is best to lower humidity? The care sheet says that it should be below 10% humidity. I can't get it to go under 50 percent. So I would like to know exactly what product is the best to use? Thank you in advance. Also I have a Under Tank Heater on one side with a small hide over it and on the other side I have a rock that holds heat with a big hide on top of the rock. The hide is really for a fish tank so it has many holes to allow alot of air in and out. I say this because I also have a heat lamp above this hide. I don't have the moss in a hide just in a long bowl that is next to the rock and big hide. Should it be inside of a hide? I really want to know if I have the heat lamp on during the day should I turn of the Under Tank Heater so that the leo can hide in that hide and be cool away from the hot side with the heat lamp? And at night when I turn of the lamp I should turn on the Under Tank Heater? I know that I am doing things wrong but I really don't know where or how to place things inside of the tank. Maybe I should leave Under Tank Heater on all the time and leave the heat lamp on during the day. If that is the way to go then I should buy another hide and put it next to the hide with the Under Tank Heater under it so that there is a cool and warm hide on the same side, and the other side will be the hot side with the heat lamp and hotter hide. Now I am confusing myself. I am just so worried that I will end up killing the little one. Please help me in how to set up the tank. I do have a couple of fake plants and a fake tree that she likes to hide in. Could they be a cool hide or is it not enough cover for her to feel secure?
Thank you,
Cheryl

Cheryl, what substrate are you useing for your leo? Also, is there much humidity in your house, that may have some effect on the tank .

Wow Cheryl you suceeded in confusing me! I would probably make an enclosed humid hide rather than putting the moss in an open tub, and as for hides, the more the better.
I don't know what to tell you about the humidity, do you have a water dish in there that could be effecting it?

Hi. Thank you for responding so soon. I'm just going to turn the Under Tank Heater of during the day and have the heat lamp on and at night the other way around. I have the water bowl in the middle of the cage, but I don't think that is the problem because the house humidity is around 60 percent. The good news is that she ate. I have been offering her crickets every night since saturday and she would not eat them, so I got mealies last night (had to wait for the pet store to get them in). Anyway she ate two and she is coming out of her hide and walking around now. I left the mealies in a bowl for her to get but I didn't count them yet so maybe she could of eaten more I'm not sure because I went to bed.

Hello,

Most people won't get the humidity below 30%. The 10% was just for the ambient air as a guide to get I as low as you can. An adequate humid hide will maintain a humidity levela of 75%-90%. Some Leopard Geckos will use the moist hide more than any other hide they have.

The lower the ambient humidity is, the better. If you can get it down to 40% or lower, that would be fine.

Thank you Rich for responding. That makes me feel better knowing that it can be at 40 percent. We'll I'm off to your care sheet to learn how to make a moist hide instead of just having moss in a bowl. It drys out to fast anyway in the bowl. Again thank you for all your help and the wonderful care sheet.
