Lighting question?

I got this from the caresheets on this site:
Quote:
Like all living creatures, they do require what is called a photoperiod. This can be established by providing 12 hours of light as well as 12 hours of darkness. A simple household bulb can be used for this purpose. The light cycle that you provide will help the gecko to determine night and day.
So does this mean that I need a light on above their cage during the day. Or will just having normal lights on during the be ok. Thanks for any light you could shed on this.

If it's a well lit sunny room no light would be needed, or even a lamp on a stand or table near the tank. We actually use a reptile light for ours just to provide a little warmth (there in a room in the house that's quite cool)

Hello,
The leopard geckos require a photo-period. If there is enough light in the room to sustain an accurate photo-period, added lighting will not be required. If the room they are kept in is dark a majority of the day, then yes, they would require some additional lighting.
