I got a new infrared bulb and it gives perfect day temps (89F), but only drops a few degrees at night, any Ideas on how to cool it down at night?

I have mine on a light dimmer, the kind that slides. I usually dont have to adjust it because I keep the one side at about 87, then they have the other side of the tank they can go to that is about 78.

no, I mean it stays in the 80s at night but the day temps are fine, I guess I could keep a Under Tank Heater on low power on at all times and just turn the lighs off at night

I turn off all heating at night and the temperature drops to around 70 degrees. I advise you to do the same unless your room temperature drops lower than this.

Yes, we turn all heating off at night too, and right now the coolest it drops is about 70F. During winter we may consider a Under Tank Heater for background heat at night when temps are much lower, but a drop to 70F is fine. I would just turn the bulb off and see what temps you get, that or get a day/night thermostat (kind??) that will work with your bulb to control your temps.

Leave the Under Tank Heater on if you need to but it is perfectly fine for the temps to drop to 70-75 at night...
