I am no expert but here is a technique I've had to use with new leopard geckos who were bound by several sheds:

Soak a washcloth with warm, not hot, water, and squeeze it out so it is not dripping wet but damp. Then open the washcloth and place the gecko inside. Next, loosely wrap the cloth around the gecko like a burrito leaving the open end for his head. If your gecko is not stressed out by this, either hold him, or leave him in a secure quiet place for about 20 minutes to steam in the gecko burrito. Then unwrap and return your gecko to his enclosure. Make sure he has plenty of rocks and such to rub himself on. This process can be repeated if a successful shed does not result the first time as long as your gecko seems okay with it. Good luck.

If it's having a problem with its eyes, I would definitely take it to a herp vet. I wouldn't try to do anything to the eyes myself as I'd be afraid of causing permanent injury, and without proper medical attention the poor baby may indeed end up permanently blind. A good herp vet will know what the problem is and how to correct it.

I had this same problem. Try getting a Q-tip wet and gently roll it over the eyes, wait about 10 minutes and roll a dry one over, it should catch a piece of skin. You will have to pull it a little but if it is pulling the eye lid too much try soaking it again with the Q-tip. Good luck.

They can basically pull their eyes in rather deep in their skull...I think this helps protect them if their head is attacked. If he has an eye infection, you're going to need antibiotics to treat it, no question about that. I'm sure you'll find his eyes are intact back in there somewhere.

geckoguy, how is your gecko?

A couple of questions arose from your first post - is the gecko being housed alone? how old is it? and how long have you had it?

Is it eating yet? And how is its shed, in particular its eyes?

I suspect you may be housing it with another or other geckos? - if so then bullying may be occuring, causing the gecko to not eat. If you are housing it alone then ill health may be behind the poor shedding and eating, and you really need to get it to a vet. I understand you said the nearest vet is 5 hours away (perhaps someone can help geckoguy out with a vet closer to home?), and that your parents seem to be a little insensitive on the situation, but you really need to be able to get veterinary help when you need it, otherwise you are not fully capable of providing your pet with what it needs for a good life. Please urge your parents to help you out with this matter - if it is something serious then there may be nothing that you personally can do.

Good luck and please let us know how s/he is getting on.
