A few questions about leos (behavior)

Hello all!

I have a few more questions, these about temperament...

I read that females are calmer than males, but in general... are they usually friendly, or not? Can they run fast? Are they jumpy? (I had a baby green iguana jump out of my hand once, and since I have a dog, I would not like a lizard that runs away fast), I think I had more... but I forgot... but post anything you know about normal leo bahavior. 8)

Thanks!

Leopard Geckos are usually friendly. babbies will have the tendancy to be jumpy as they will assume everything is out to eat them. Be calm with them and handle them for a little bit each day and they will adjust to being handled

I would have to agree with Ken. Also, in my experience, my males tend to be calmer than some of my females (adults). All my youngins seems to be very jumpy and will hiss and try to attack me (it's acutally kind of cute!) but once they are around 4 months or so they just mysteriously seem to mellow out. Has anyone else had this experience?

My cresteds seem to follow the same trend... Although only a few weeks apart the babies from the second clutch are much more ramboncious (sp?) than that of the first.

my leo is fairly calm, but if I catch him off guard, he will dart away fast! they dont normally move to fast, but if nessisary, they can. but for mine, he only gets jumpy and runs away fast when hes scared, or uncomfortable... sometimes when I turn on his light in the morning he gets spooked, but hes gotten used to it now...

he is very friendly tho. ive never had a fem. so I dunno how they react to stimuli. also, i got him as an adut so I dunno about babies, but as an adult he DEFINATLY easy going.... never been bit hissed at (well, i got bitten once, because I hand feed him, but it was an accident, and he looked up at me with gooly eyes and had a really guilty look about him, so I figure that was his way of saying sorry)
