roughed up nose
i just noticed during my routine handling session that Pebbles my patternless leo's nose was kinda roughed up. Im pretty sure its from her rubbing it on her hides how can I help clear that up. I dont have any aloe but have some mineral oil, plenty of cotton swabs and of course warm water.

Could the damage be from snout-rub against the tank? What is the enclosure like? Right now our yellow rat x corn male has a bit of a sore nose from rubbing against his enclosure in an attempt to get out (not due to enclosure size, he wants to breed!!).. we use tamodine (i think you have a similar product called betadine? - basically diluted iodine) to make sure his nose is clean and doesn't become infected. This is particularly useful for open wounds, which our snake doesn't have, but also seems to work well in clearing up wounds.

The tank is pretty nice and they seem quite content.

Can you get a picture of her nose? Is there something in the tank which she could have caught it on and injured herself on? I would try the tamodine solution for now.

Diluted hydrogen peroxide works well too. I usually use that and some Neosporin. I always have some Betadine on hand too though for my amphibs. Even after you treat it though, you've still gotta find a way to prevent it from happening again.

Yeah I think my girls hides are to small for them but they both insist on being in the same hide together. So she is rubbing her nose on the terra cotta hide I think cuz I heard her last night.

Yeah, put either some Betadine or hydrogen peroxide on a Qtip and gently apply it to her nose. Then I'd dab it dry and use the other end of the Qtip to apply a thin layer of Neosporin, or a generic version of it. Make sure its a thin layer though, in case she decides to lick it. Then I'd get them some bigger hides so it doesn't keep up. You can get Betadine at many pet stores. Hydrogen peroxide can be found at most drug stores, Walmart, etc. Same for Neosporin.
