Males don't need to be as big as females to breed - they can mate from a younger age. However, I'm not sure when males reach sexual maturity - do you know what his weight is?

Females are more of a concern - they must be of optimal weight and size and age to breed, as producing eggs will take a lot out of them.

females must be at the very least 50 grams to breed. The male, well my male is exactly the same size as yours and I have been told that he is big enough to breed. At around 8 months is the age for sexual maturity in males. Am I right? someone please comment on this.

Thank you for helping me!!!! I am hoping that the female lays some eggs and if she does I will share some pics of the babies. One quick question, how long does it take for a female to lay eggs?? He mates with her every night? Thanks,
Lyn's Chris

Did you take a look at the care sheet? it states that they can hold sperm for a long time, they will use the sprem when needed and lay eggs every 4-6 weeks....

make sure you do share pics, we would love to see your new babies

the only real rule that we like to go by is that the the FEMALE is atleast 1 year and 40 grams... thats about it...

jrobinson.. I wouldn't breed a female until at least 45-50g, which they should be before a year of age. Ours are around 7 months old now and are all around the 50g mark, however we'll be leaving it a little longer before we breed them.

Chris,. a male doesn't need to be as old or as big, however it must also be taken into consideration that the geckos should be of a similar size; you run the risk of injury to one if they are too dissimilar in size.

You still haven't said the size of your females? And are you able to weigh the male? .. and where are the pics???

bitis...that is why there is two parts to "our rule" with the first part being that they are 1 year of age...

with males most care sheets rule that a male must be AT LEAST 8 months, 10 months or older is safest, most breeders go on a 40gram rule
