My Gecko Tries to Bite Me...

Through the glass. Like, she stares at me and when I walk over to her, she consistantly tries to bite the glass. I don't know why or if she doesn't like me but I've held her many times before and she's never actually tried to attack me. She recently just started this. Does anyone have any thought as to why she recently developed this behavior?

She might be hungry. I know Liz tries to bite the glass because she associates me with her food.

We tried giving her superworms but she wouldn't eat them so we got her a few waxworms and she ate them immediately. It was just so funny because she just watched us laying down the entire night and kept trying to attack the tank, it was almost creepy. Lol. She'd slowly move her head in our direction. But she's eating now and she's sleeping so hopefully she stopped, lol.

I was reading your other thread, and you said you just got your gecko back from the vet. Could something have happened there that is causing her to want to bite?

Sounds like the gecko is hungry, I've seen my leopard do this. Be careful how often you are giving the gecko wax worms. You don't want her to get used to those and refuse anything else. Try giving a wax worm to get her excited about eating then toss in a super worm or meal worm.

I'm sure they didn't treat her well which could have changed her mood.

And she just regurgitated the wax worms.. she loves them but can't keep them down and refuses to eat anything else...sooo stubborn.

Hmm. Maybe give her a day or two to recover from her visit, then try the worms again.

I'm sorry, I don't remember if you had other threads about the regurgitation. But have you had a vet visit for that? Have you accurately checked your temperatures?

Re: My Gecko Tries to Bite Me...

I need to schedule a REAL vet visit. I brought her to petco because they told me that they have a vet there that will look at her, and gave me no other information than that. I was told they were "observing her" and when I got her back her tail was thinner than the tip of a pencil. It was absolutely disgusting. She comes out of her warm hide a lot now, ever since we got her the Under Tank Heater. Petco told us we didn't need one, just an overtank heater so we didn't originally have one. So when I read some threads on here that said to get her one, I went right out and got one.
Last night was the first time I've seen her regurgitate. She hasn't yet today and I don't think she's eaten since last night so maybe she'll be able to keep it down. She's been coming out and walking around quite a bit and seems to have more energy so hopefully she's recovered over whatever it was that made her lose her appetite. I'm going to continue to keep close watch over her and if she continues to regurgitate I'll call a vet.
We have a digital thermometer. Her warm side stays around 84-87 degrees and at night it drops to about 77 degrees. Of course, that's the air around her, I'm sure the temperature of the Under Tank Heater is a bit warmer.
