Moist hide destruction!!!

Every night Oscar pulls all the sphagnum moss out of his hide till there is none in there, why would he do this? I was thinking because it has dried out, by the time I get up its all been dragged out and dry, he doesnt seem to do it when its moist..is this a normal thing for them to do? He must work really hard to get it all out, I have yet to catch him at work

Its the same way with my cresteds. When the female is gravid she pulls alot of the moss out and then lays. Im guranteed eggs when I find a mess of sphangum, I think its a fair trade.
