New Gecko Mom of sick baby!

Hello, I am new to this site as of today. Also I am a new Gecko mom of a 1 yr. old Leopard I rescued. I hear the word impaction and panic! My girl; Flower has not eaten in quite a while, she is active, and I can not see any spots on her belly. She has also not pooped in quite a while. She was housed for about 4 months on a sand substrate before I rescued her and now with me, I just have paper towel in her habitat. When I do show her food, she immediately shows interest, but then just moves away without eating anything. I do NOT unfortunately have a vet in my area that will even look at her...she is considered an exotic by all that I have called. So my new friends, I fear I am all on my own and I am in desperate need of any insight and help anyone here may have to offer me. Also, her tail is very nice and fat, and as I said, she is active, but not eating and not pooping! Please help me if anybody can, I have become very attached to my little girl.

First, people need to know your set up. What size enclosure, heats, temps, substrate, the more you tell about all that kind of stuff the better people will be able to help. How long have you had him/her?

Re: New Gecko Mom and Member.

Welcome to the boards. We need more info on your set up and what you are feeding. How long have you had her? Do you know what her setup was like before?

I just looked on the reptile vet finder link and there is a place called Ontario Veterinary College you might try them for vet care.

If it did fall into someone's hands super...otherwise I will try again tomorrow. Thanks again for the 3 replies!!

I'm guessing that this is the post you were referring to. It was in your intro thread.

She even laid 2 sets of eggs ( unfertilized of course ), that was around the first part of December 08. Her shedding pattern has also been on schedule, if you can call it that, and her water intake has been good also. Flower has been bound since about 3 weeks now. She shows interest in food when presented to her, but she doesn't eat any. The previous owner had a sand substrate; her little belly is still stained orange from it. I put her immediately onto paper towel in her new habitat with me. She is out and about through out the day and evening, so to me she doesn't seem lethargic, she also still enjoys being out and walking around outside of her habitat for a bit; supervised of course. There are no spots that I can see on her belly either. She is quite plump and her tail is just beautiful....nice and fat! I have now prepared for her the pedialyte and mineral oil mixture and have been giving her the warm baths and belly rubs. As for the Vet issue, there are plenty here in the city, I have called them all!!! They will tackle birds and the like, but they have refused to tackle my Gecko??? I have even taken my daughter's rabbit to be neutered here..go figure.....She is also now getting ready to shed again. I feel I am competent to try to care for her myself, with some help of some new friends.......lack of vet care beside! Finally, how do I get Flower to take the mineral oil mixture? Any help would be great!

    Thanks you so much!

Its not you. The two corresponding threads were merged together in order to simplify you getting the answers you seek.
But we have not seen the detailed account of how you are keeping it.
You may have accidentally deleted it instead of posting it.
And don't worry,....We are very patient with new folks.

Hi Dina, how is she doing? Without knowing your setup I can make a couple of suggestions. Try offering a different feeder than you usually do. Check the temp on the hot side you may need to increase it. For the oil use a syringe or eye dropper and put a small amount on the mouth and let her lick it off then repeat. Don't overdo the oil, it may take a day or two to work.

To help get her moving you could give her a warm bath and massage her tummy a little. (If she'll sit still long enough)...
