OMG - My New Leopard Gecko
I was SOOO not good at the Havre De Grace show today!!!
And Schlegelbagel and Reptiod were absolutely no help in keeping me in check! (But EXTREMELY helpful in making sure I had everything I needed for my new friend! )I bought a beautiful little girl Leopard Gecko!! Let me see if I can post pics.. Her habitat is sparse, but she has a heating pad under one side, a hide spot and water for now. She walked all around the new enclosure then into her hide spot and snuggled down. I used the container she came home in, cut an opening in on one side, turned it upside down and filled it with shredded paper towels - she seems to like it. (pic #3) I'll have tons of questions later, but I wanted to introduce her to all of you first!! I'm still uncertain of her name - but my husbands first suggestion was Gretchen --- I dunno, we'll see.

Re: OMG - My New Leopard!!!
LOL with how upset hubby could be about you buying another critter, you might want to let him name her!

Re: OMG - My New Leopard!!!
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But I did get a text message from him today (while at the show) that said "What ever you want" -- and yes it was a direct answer to the gecko purchase.
![]() Since I couldn't figure out a place to "hide" a 10g tank and not have him notice, I thought it would be best to get his opinion. It was better then I expected -- all I was hoping for was a "whatever!" He had already thought of a name when I called him as I was leaving the show - but that was before he knew I bought a girl. I think he just wants people to believe he doesn't like pets!

Re: OMG - My New Leopard Gecko
Hey Nevin! Glad to have you on the board! Make an introductory thread for yourself and have a look around. Like I said at the show, no flaming on THIS board.

Re: OMG - My New Leopard Gecko
Hey Nevin!!! Thanks for the age update. We are having a name dispute, but we are really happy with her.
She stays hidden during the day, and then we do the stealth watching to see her come out of her little hide of shredded paper towels. I put paper across the back of the aquarium and wrapped it a bit around the sides to give her some more privacy - but she is still settling in. We're leaving her alone for a few more days because she seems skittish and afraid. Oh, and just for clarification - they don't always smile. When I stopped to pick up meal worms, all they had were wax worms so I got them so she at least had something to eat. When she was settled the first night, I dropped one in and she headed for it when she saw it, bent down to smell it and actually grimaced! My son and I burst out laughing. It was a definite 'you've got to be kidding me' look. (although she did eat it later that night) So it's mealworms only for Gretchen, unless my son comes up with another name we like. Sunshine is being kicked around right now. Thanks Schlegelbagel and Reptoid for helping twist my arm and thank you Nevin for your beautiful (and well cared for Gecko) I almost forgot, what was the morph variety of Gretchy or Sunshine? Thanks again,

Re: OMG - My New Leopard Gecko
Lmao, that grimace is hilarious sometimes!! Thank you for the compliments, and suggesting this page, I'll probably be snooping around a bunch here. Feed that little girl as many mealies as she wants to eat when you get them, and if you need me to bring some to the next Havre de grace, I can. Also she is a Hypo, Bold Stripe, Super Giant, Carrot Tail (and a possible het for APTOR)
ps. She looks brighter already!!!! They usually brighten up when you get them out of the breeding racks. |
