Leo Indegestion?
well, recently I've found regurgitated mealies strewn about my tank, and I wondered what was wrong, frankly I'm a bit worried, none of the 3 in the tank had eaten much, and I began to feed them larger numbers of mealies, could this be part of the problem? I have a strong feeling its blizzard being ill.

Ifyou truly feel your leo is sick then bring it to a good herp vet. What I have heard and had occur when my Leopard Geckos were indigested is that they stick their neck up higher than there body and shake their head a couple seconds.

If you suspect that one of them is ill you want to separate it from the others. If there is an illness you don't want the others catching it, and you should quarantine it. Keeping it alone will also aid you in keeping an eye on it properly, so you can be sure that it is that one which is ill.
What are the temps in your enclosure? Too-low temps can cause improper digestion and this may be the cause, however it could be something more serious - if your temps are fine but you are seeing a lot of regurgitation I would make a vet visit. Is it pooing? - if you can take a faecal example for the vet to do a test on so they can determine if it has parasites or not. Are you just feeding mealworms? If you are feeding other foods, is there any other regurgitation? How long have you had the geckos and how long has this been happening? Also, do you supplement with calcium+multi-vits?

well
I hadn't put any suppliment on the mealies this time around, I believe I need to check my temps both day and night, now that you mention it I haven't checked my night time temps recently, I may need to purchase a Under Tank Heater, the leo may have also been stressed out, I handled it a little more that day.
The lizard has been with the other two Leopard Geckos for several months After I've checked these problems out I'll post again |

I don't see why a little extra handling over a day would cause regurgitation, but since you have had her a while I doubt this is anything serious, however if s/he continues to bring her food back up you are going to need to get her to the vet asap! Our female collared lizard once threw up a couple of mealworms - she never did it again, and she is very healthy, I believe that she just had too many mealworms - they are high in phosphorus and chitin (sp?) which makes them more difficult to digest, therefore they shouldn't be fed in high quantities. Perhaps your leo just ate too many mealies?
It is imperative that you check your temps though - things like temp are too important to just guess at, and this could be your problem. Let us know how you get on, and how the leo appears to be. ![]()
