You have everything all set thus far. One thing you may want to consider is getting an Under Tank Heater but other than that your good to go.

You don't need to mist the tank or anything. ust provide them with a humid hide.

I am talking about the humidity in the whole cage. It is around 50% all day. Is this bad for them? I just picked up 3 of them(1 male and 2 females) at the NOVA show(big disapointment) and I will get a couple of pics up tomorrow. Also I plan on getting a Under Tank Heater next weekend when I have some more cash.

Why are you dissapointed?

Then humidity should probably be 25-30. It may be a problem if left to a long period, but I'm not really sure though.

Those are nice geckos for sure though!

You dont know the morphs? What were they sold as?

I hope that isnt a heat rock that you have in the tank? Get rid of it, it can and may burn your leopard geckos

Yeah you got some fairly high end morphs you shouldnt be dissappointed at all.

I am not disapointed with my geckos I was disapointed with the show. The last show I went to had about 50-60 vendors and this one had at most 20. And no I do not have a heat rock and I never use heat rocks with any of my herps. I have 3 hides, 1 humid hide, 1 day light, 1 infared light and a Under Tank Heater. The Day light and Under Tank Heater are on one reostate and teh night light is on another. Both are on timers to cycle 12 on 12 off.

Yeah, the thing about D3 is that its normally created by skin cels when reptiles are exosed to UVB lighting. Its not really a vitamin, but it does help regulate calcium absorption. The thing is, in nature you can't eat it, you get it from the sun, which is why diurnal reptiles need UVB lights. The supplemental form of D3 used in cal supplements is not proven a safe way to provide D3 to reptikles, and some evidence points in the direction that it may actually be harmful. Like trying to turn sunlight into something edible. Plus, Leopard Geckos aren't a diurnal lizard. They don't need UVB and therefore don't need D3 to regulate calcium absorption. How they evolved this way and how they get calcium without D3 I wish I knew.

I too am about to get some Leopard Geckos in the next week or so. My plan so far is like this...please stop me if I'm wrong on anything. And BTW, Rob, I am not trying to steal your thread, just keep it going a bit.

Any way...I have a 55 gallon tank right now with my baby iglet in there. But this coming week I am using my last check to build her a cage (for those ig slaves who wish to know, its 7.5'T X 7' Long X 3' Deep)...this leaves me with this big old tank and no herps inside. I've ALWAYS wanted Leopard Geckos, so last month I start doing my research...but there's some things I'm confused about.

First off, I've read both sides of having multiple Leopard Geckos together. Just for your information, I plan on getting about 7...probably all females. I don't care to deal with breeding, nor the bullying. But I've read even with females, there will be bullying. Let me know your thoughts on this. I plan on providing enough hides for everyone, just in case they all want to be difficult, which I know from my iguana and anoles that herps can be.

Next is substrate? What does everyone else use? With my iggy Camille I use newspaper, but would like paper towels work? What's your best bet...obviously not sand or any of that stuff...but what does everyone swear by?

Also, I know they don't need UVB...and they basically don't bask, just soak up the heat while it's there, and its used to regulate their day-night. So should I get a Ceramic Heat Emitter, or a Under Tank Heater? Let me know please, because I plan on having all this set up the day after Camille gets put into her grand cage.

I have more questions, but for the most part, that is all I need to know prior to getting them. I have a little book I picked up for Leopard Geckos care, but I trust this place more.
