I have a foam background layed down to make little caves and calcium sand filled in around it. They also have some of the moss from the moist hide pulled out.

I'm with merlin....paper towel is the safest bet. you could use bits of tile or slate if you want it look a bit better than the towels
nice looking gecko though!

Tiles are nice, you can get the non-glossy slate pieces and they look great!
