Dirt

So I'm working on a viv. for my leopard gecko. Where can I get plain old dirt like you'd have in your yard (I don't trust my yard because of all the weed killer my dad uses for dandelions and such)? I will be mixing this with playsand to keep it dry for desert plants.

thanks

Re: Dirt

You need organic potting soil and can get it at most hardware or garden stores. Make sure its perilite (those little white balls) free.

Re: Dirt

Thanks a lot! How much sand would you suggest mixing with the soil in order to make it dry enough for the leopard gecko?

Re: Dirt

I have no idea. I would think you should trial and error it.

Re: Dirt

Would the All Natural Organic Miracle Grow Potting Soil be fine?

Re: Dirt

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe that's what I used, mixed with eco earth, in my wall geckoes tank. I don't see why not, I looked it over and it contained no perlite, and is from all organic material.

Re: Dirt

Okay sounds good then, I just wanted to make sure. I looked it over as well and there was nothing that wasn't organic in it.
