Help with My Leopard Geckos

Hi, I have two leopard geckos and have a few questions. First, I can't seem to get their tank warm enough. I have an under tank heating pad and heat light, but the temp is only 80. Is that ok or what can I do to warm it up more?
The other question is, what should I use for their hot hide box? I've heard I should use tupperware and fill it with beaked moss and wet it daily. Is this a good idea? I use white paper towels for their bedding so there is no moss to keep humidity up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.
Thank you!

Re: Help with My Leopard Geckos

Hello and welcome to HC. The first thing I want to post is our caresheet, which can be found here:

Leopard Gecko Caresheet (Eublepharis macularius) - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database

You want to try and raise the temperature on the warm end another 5-10 degrees. Ideally, the range should be between 85-90 though you can get as high as 95.

If the heat lamp is a bulb, buy the next highest wattage.

The hide you are describing is a moist hide. That should be on the cool end, or in the middle of the tank. Placing it on the warm end will cause excessive evaporation and could raise the humidity drastically throughout the enclosure.

On the warm end, and on the cool end, you just need a hide that the leo can go under or into. It doesn't need any substrate in it. In total, you should have 3 hides.

One on the warm end, one on the cool end, and the moist hide in the middle or toward the cool end.

You mean Peat moss! And you want long fibered sphagnum moss, not the peat moss that is sold as potting soil. It holds moisture pretty well so you won't have to wet it every day.
And you don't want high humidity in the rest of the tank
