2 Questions
well after 9 years of having my gecko I added a humid house for him (I didn't know what they were till a few weeks ago)... I added it I think 2 weeks ago... anyway, he has not gone in it yet, why?
second question.... I've been feeding my gecko about 5-8 crickets a day and then the next day I do about 5-8 mealworms.... is this alright? |

Re: 2 Questions
He's probably a little confused with the addition of the new hide. He'll eventually use it. Most likely when he sheds again. The diet is fine. I'm surprised he eats that much. Mine ate like that when they were young but since they got around 2 years old or so they would only eat every other day, sometimes 2. Never daily.

Re: 2 Questions
okay thanks! yeah sometimes I won't feed him for a day if I don't have time, most of the time he eats 90% of what I put in and sometimes will leave a cricket/mealworm or 2 and eat them a few hours later...

Re: 2 Questions
Matilda, my leo, never had a moist hide with her previous owner (I got her when she was about 4.5 years) and at first it appeared she NEVER went in it...I showed her the opening, and reminder her it was there and she just seemed to never use it. One day I moved it so the opening was a little more accessible (not sure what the difference was, because it was pretty easy to get into before!) and she just walked right in and laid down. Now she never wants to leave! It is her favorite hide by far. Spends most of her time in it. What do you have inside your moist hide? I originally put moss in it, however, I had to remove the moss because when she shed she was ingesting the moss while trying to get her skin off. Once she was used to the moist hide, she was happy with just moist paper towels.

Re: 2 Questions
I have the coconut fibers that you would use for hermit crabs, I spray it about once a day and I have some moss I bought at petco in the back of it.... It is just a small plastic container you would use for food with a hole cut in it. I put black tape all around it to make him feel more secure and then glued some leftover carpet to it so it fit in with everything better....
