Leopard Gecko Help
So I got a leopard gecko about 9 years ago and right now he is in a 40g wide glass tank, during the day I have a heat lamp on the tank, I have basic play sand from home depot, water dish, and tons of stuff for him to hide under....
I feel this is too basic and I'm not giving him the ideal environment and would like to do whatever I can too give him a great tank.... any comments on how to help my set up would be great and I also have been wondering, how often do people clean their tanks? and what does everyone feed their geckos, and how often? thanks! |

Re: Leopard Gecko Help
if you have had him for 9 years and everything is going well then I would think you are allreadt giving it a ideal enviornment. if you want to do anything I would get rid of the sand and get the sand/brown color repti carpet. then you can get rid of the light and add a small under the tank heater. from what I know they prefer belly heat anyway. getting rid of the sand will reduce the chance of impaction down to zero. outside of that there not really climbers for the most part so there isnt that much more you can do.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help
get some meal worms for him too. other then that there isnt much more in food you can use. just make shure your dusting them with some vitamin and some calcium every now and then and petco has repticarped and a small Under the tank heater. i have 2 geckos male and female in seperate 20 gal tanks and I still get the under the tank heater for a 10 gal.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help
you can only keep females together in the same tank. two males will fight and a male and a female will mate alot and if your not planning on hatching with a incubater and feeding babys then I would stick to having all females
