Re: Leopard Gecko Help

you also probably want to stay away from the water dish with the resivior. This will most likely raise the humidity more than you want.

Also wanted to note that you most likely do not want to try adding a second leo considering that your current one is already 8 years old. Having multiple Leopard Geckos together usually works well together if they are introduced at a young age. After 8 years yours would probably be stressed out....

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

alright... so I read about digital thermometers and was wondering if there were any that have 2 probes to get the temp of the warm and cool side of the tank? Would home depot have them, because I'm going there tonight?

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

i agree with going digital. much more acurate and most have a memory that can tell you your warmest temp of the day and your coolest. I dont use the waterdish that has the large bottle refill thing. i have no screens on top of my geckos tank so its easy to just change it every day. i would think if you use one of thos types that is may be weeks untill you have to refill it and I would be worried about bacteria.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

you asked about plants, I do have live plants in there, but is a new set up, just put my leopard gecko in this week. I use sand, and have large flat rocks(slate/shale) laid in there. I've attached link to picture of tank...http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/IMG_0744.jpg hope it works so you can see my 90 gal tank, 3 geckos live in there. There's Under Tank Heater in front center area. Winter here is very cold, so it also has ceramic heat lamp if I need it. Temps seem to be 75-80 for my cool areas, and the hot areas max out at 92 degrees. The humidity is staying at 35 - 40% it seems. Has two 15/25 w blue lights at night and two t5 2ft fluorescent for the plants.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

wow, very nice tank! I like those plants what kind are they? I'm thinking about getting lighting and some plants, but don't know much about that .... as for sand I just took mine out because I heard it can be bad. I actually redid my entire tank, but I'm thinking about adding in small areas of sand for any future plants to make it look more natural.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

also the only blue lights I've seen are the "day time" ones at petco, can they see these because I thought they would look cool, but I have the red one to keep lit during the day and night and I also have a 10g heater pad on the left side of my tank.

Re: Leopard Gecko Help

okay being the idiot I am I tore open the box for my digital thermometer and threw it away... sooo.... I have a sensor plugged into it and the sensor is stuck on the bottom of my glass just over the heat pad and I also have a red light on the tank for the warm spot.... but the therm is only showing 76 degrees and I'm guessing that is my current room temp, so why isn't it taking the temp from the sensor?
