Re: Young Leopard Geckos Not Eating?

Update: I tried the baby food potion. They both licked their noses. The thinest one, who the the more active one ate two wax worms on his own after the baby food potion. The lethargic one, which is thin but not as thin as the active one, hissed at me and went back into hiding.

Re: Young Leopard Geckos Not Eating?

you should probably decide what you are going to do with the lethargic one. if you plan to keep them both then it will be important to separate them. he is probably feeling stressed by having a cagemate and if you are going to continue to try and feed him, he will feel more secure on his own then having another leo in there bothering him and that may also be why he is hiding so much. he will have an easier time settling in to his own home then sharing it with another. and if you decide to take him back, then you can focus on getting the one you keep to eat and settling in on his own as well. but either way it is important to figure out what you are going to do soon so that you can figure out a better plan to go from there. either separate them or return one. just make sure you have the space and equipment to properly maintain two enclosures.

getting young leopard geckos to eat can be a pain in the butt and having two that won't eat takes a little more time and effort but it is wise to separate them. it might also be a good idea to take fecal samples into the vet. if the lethargic one has a parasite or some sort of illness the other one can catch or may already have it. that could be another reason why they are stressed, still acclimating and not hungry.

i realize this is probably a good bit to deal with but take it a step at a time, make sure you have an idea of what you're going to do and go from there. it'll really help. the fact that the one ate two wax worms may be promising for him/her.

good luck.
