High Yellow Leo?

hey everyone. I am posting this on behalf of my gf who has tried registering here (are u guys having server trouble btw? some links like the ones above the search bar arent working for us)

but anyways, before she takes over how about a newbie intro

She is the proud owner of a young normal male leopard gecko named Toby, he was everything you are supposed to avoid when buying, too skinny, missing a tail... etc, but.... she fell in love and home he came to the luxury of superfeeding (seriously, i know u arent supposed to be able to overfeed a leo, but hes only a couple months old, regenerated a tail, and eats almost a dozen med crickets weekly as well as 20-30 mealworms )

so toby is becoming a fatty, and now she has already fallen in love with a High yellow leo at the local pet store. this one is healthy looking, and we believe to be female, but shes underdeveloped and hard to tell right now.

so 2 Qs for u guys. are the high yellows just another phase? i believe so, but not entirely sure. it looks almost like a buttercorn vs normal corn (i have a 4.5ft 1yo (btw, thats me bragging about my baby) ghost corn so thats how it makes sense to me. a yellow leo with no brown . also have a baby red tail who I rescued too, maybe see some of u guys around more in the snake sections)

next Q, we realize that a M/F couple will breed, but with Leopard Geckos is there a cooldown period if these 2 are housed together and they do breed, or will perpetual housing be fine as long as they are similarly sized?

thanks in advance for ur answers and putting up with my babling.

Re: High Yellow Leo?

They will probably breed and they may fight and stress each other out. it's usually best to keep them separate

The links over the search bar are there so you can search different areas of the site. You click on the one you want to search, enter in your key word(s) and then click on the "Search (section)" button.

Re: High Yellow Leo?

Housing juveniles together isn't recommended, especially since males will try to breed earlier than females. You can also risk fighting, and even more damage to the one gecko. It is best to have them grow up, then you can house them together once you are 100% certain the other one is a female.

Re: High Yellow Leo?

I would house then seperately. Besides you have to quarantine the new one anyway you dont want to spread something nasty!

that was our intention.... sorry bitty hasnt been back to answer her thread.... shes in the other room cooing over her reg and yellow (we did get it btw, her name is charlotte and she is adorable..... unless its charley..... too young to tell )

they are housed separately, and may possibly be that way forever, or at least for 1 year. then they may shack up, we havent decided yet. thanks for all your replies
