Re: Any Suggestion to Help a Leopardgecko Shed

he has a moist hide with moss, i am using calcium sand on the bottom, he also has a hide on the warm side and a hide on the cool side. the temp is around 80 to 85 on hot side and 75 on the cool. it is a ten gallon tank. as well as a bown of calcium, food bowl for the meal worms and a water bowl. i use a heat pad on the bottom glass and a heat lamp on the top to keep the temp up. he is having problems with the toes and around the eyes. i just dont want to hurt him when I try to help him with the toes. i got the skin from his head area. just nervous with the eyes.

Can you see this one coming?
Ditch the calcium sand!

As for the toes. Take a tupperware container with just enough water in it t cover the feet and leav the gecko in there to soak for 15-20 minutes.
Iy probably won't be happy about it!
Then take a wet q tip and gently work the skin around the toes. It should come off. I wouldn't worry too much about the area around the eyes. The danger is dead skin constricting the toes and cutting off circulation.

Re: Any Suggestion to Help a Leopardgecko Shed

well I took gizmo out of the enclosure to get the excess skin off her toes and head because she couldnt really open one eye.........shes not very happy with me at the moment. she tried to wriggle away and bit me when I picked her up but the skin is gone now and i'll just have to be patient till she gets used to me
