Re: Just Got a Gecko !!
if you've only had her for a week she's still getting used to her surroundings. don't handle her, just leave her alone to get used to things, she's probably stressed out over the new changes and move. this is also probably why she is not eating.
make sure you read over our leopard gecko caresheet so you can check the temps in the enclosure to make sure you have everything correct. Leopard Gecko Caresheet (Eublepharis macularius) - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database

Re: Just Got a Gecko !!
it depends on the last time she was fed before she got to you, she could be pooing from previous feeds. as long as she is pooing regularly thats a good sign. i doubt she would be eating the moss in the humid hide. the stress from being moved will make them not want to eat since they are in a strange new environment. and to them, anything bigger than they are will try to eat them. so if you are going into her tank as well she might be afraid. just leave her alone for about a week with no interaction other than changing out water or cleaning up some poo. when she starts to seem more comfortable you can offer her food. just make sure if you are going to feed her in her enclosure that you don't use a substrate like sand or anything loose, she will swallow it when catching the crickets and it could lead to an impaction, you don't want that.
many people will put their lizards or snakes in separate feeding tubs to reduce this risk. that way you can also monitor how many she is eating. if you do feed in the enclosure, don't leave the crickets there for longer than a day or so, they have been known to nibble on the lizard when hungry and the lizard is not interested. you may want to print out the caresheet and keep it by her enclosure so you always have a quick sheet to refer back to. ![]()

Re: Just Got a Gecko !!
Be really careful with the skin on her toe, and you should remove it because it can "strangle" her toe. But don't pull it off, get some hot water and a wash cloth and try and rub it off, it usually comes right off, but toes can be a bugger! If that doesn't work, there is a thread on here where someone had that exact problem. As for the crickets, don't leave them in there too long, as i'm sure someone will tell you, if they're not gone in a couple of days (1 or 2) remove them. But really, theres an awesome thread on here that was recent about shed on the toes. Just search it..

Re: New Leopard Gecko
i wouldn't use hot water, reptiles are alot more sensitive to water temps than we are. i would just use somewhat warm water. yes if its not removed it can cut off the circulation to her toe and may result in the tip going bad and falling off. you can use a q-tip and some water and rub at it or you can put her in a bit of water just enough to cover her feet and let her soak for a little while. but you do not want to pull it off with your fingers or tweezers. you may also be able to rub in some mineral oil to help soften it up as well.
for now don't worry about whether or not she's eating, if she is still stressed from the move and if she has recently shed where that toe skin is still on there, she may not want to eat either. just make sure she is not losing any wait. i would bet that after she settles in she will start eating again, just make sure you have everything set up properly as stated in the caresheet above. do you have any pics you can post of her? here is a recent thread about leo shedding not coming off toes and some solutions. hopefully it will help you out some. Shed Not Coming Off Toes!
