Re: Food For My Leopard Geckos

Unless you know they are free from pesticides, I would not feed bugs from outside.

Re: Food For My Leopard Geckos

I think it is a bad idea, you never know what you are going to get.
Garden bugs could have ingested a poisonous plant or they could have been sprayed with a pesticide. Both could be bad news for your gecko.
Even if you don't use pesticide on your garden bugs move around, they could pick something up at your neighbors.

Also the could be harboring parasites.

If you are looking for a new treat buy some silkworms.

I would say no. Those bugs have a big chance of having chemicals on it, even if you don't use chemicals in your garden. Bugs travel and could have fertilizer and pesticides from other yards.

Also the bugs themselves could be dangerous, they could bite, be toxic or have hard exoskeletons that cause impaction.

Some specialtly pet stores have different assortments of safe bug's ( Flys, Beetles etc. ). Ask around if your looking for a different item menu.

Re: Food For My Leopard Geckos

If your leo's large enough you could try superworms. I feed them to my skink as treats every once in awile.

Re: Food For My Leopard Geckos

I was wondering if anyone knew the calcium/phosphorus ratio for superworms?
I have a 2 year old male, who does not seem interested in the medium size mealworms I got for him. I was thinking of trying a few superworms, seeing if that would get his attention.
