Pinkie Mice

So three part question. My female is impregnated and I wont to get her a pinkie mice for some calcium. From what I have read it is only good to do this during breeding and at most once a week.

1 Is it safe for me to give my male one whenever I give her one?
2. Where can I get them petsmart?
3. Anybody have a good link on information to set up a home made incubator (concentrating on temperature control)

Re: Pinkie Mice

I do not know too much about Leopard Geckos but I will help you out the best I can until someone else can come along and take over.
I have heard of people safely feeding their Leopard Geckos pinkies.
You can get them at petsmart or petco, I suggest frozen/thawed or fresh kill.
and here is a link to what seems to be a simple enough incubator
Albey's How To Incubate Leopard Gecko Eggs
Hopefully that helps ya out a little!

Re: Pinkie Mice

Yes very thank you much. You or anyone know a way to incubate without spending a 120 on a "incubater" ?

Re: Pinkie Mice

I used a small plastic sandwiche box, three airholes on top, and covered this with a face cloth. I included a small dish with a teaspoon of water, and just monitored my temp often, keeping it at roughly 85-90*.

And about 7 Weeks later, success
Two Adorable little healthy Leopard Geckos.

It is possible to make a homemade one like this, however you absolutely must regulate the temperature, a simple drop in room temp around the box can be fatal. It just requires more attention than an incubator would, at dirt cheap prices :]

Re: Pinkie Mice

I have a cheap styrofoam chicken egg incubator, were I to breed anything i'd just use that, and modify the temperatures to be closer to the specific target, there usualy rather cheap, But if you want to put one together, a styrofoam box, with a secure lid, along with a heater controlled by a thermostat works well, and usualy will cost you about $60-$80 dollars.
