Ok I just changed Scorch's carpet today and I bought a new color. Is this going to affect him any way like if I changed were all of his hides are? Thanks

I shouldn't think that it would be too much of a problem. Most animals can see some colors, but mostly animals deal in shades. The only problem I can see maybe happening is your gecko might take a little bit of time to adjust to eating as depending on the color, the food might "blend" into it (even if it doesn't appear to do so to you).

Either way, any sort of environmental change, such as rearranging the tank can be considered to be psychologically stimulating. In fact, they do it all the time in zoos (they call it enrichment) as it helps prevent boredom and stereotypic behaviors (like pacing)!

Think of it as redesigning your bedroom: anytime you move furniture around, it kind of feels refreshing and exciting, doesn't it? A whole new room!

Changing the color of the carpet should not be a real big issue as long as everything else is still the same. If you compare it to those who use newspapaer, the patterns and colors are changed everytime we clean the cage.While this may be fine with higher thought process animals like mammals and birds it isn't the best idea for reptiles. The problem is that with reptiles a total rearrangement is more stressful than stimulating. This often results in them stopping eating for a while until they get re-established.

I realize this is true, but I was referring to small changes. Large changes are stressful on most animals. Sorry if my meaning was unclear.
