Feeding leos
Hello again everyone. Just wanted to say that you all were so helpful with all of your tips and suggestions. Thank you very much.I was also wondering if anyone might have some knowledge about leopard geckos. My brother-n-law asked me to take care of his and I just want to make sure everything goes well.
How much food should I feed him?I read a little bit last night but it said to feed him like four live feeds a day.My brother-n-law said he only feeds it one cricket a day. "Scratch" is four or five months old and he is like four and a half inches long.Is he small? THANKS :0 |

Re: Feeding leos
Please print off and give him our caresheet
Leopard Gecko Caresheet (Eublepharis macularius) - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database The gecko should be given crickets about the size of the distance between the gecko's eyes and as much as it will consume in about 10 minutes. One cricket a day is woefully inadequate!

Re: Feeding leos
Hello,
One cricket a day is not enough for a single leo. The easiest way to ensure that the leo is getting plenty to eat is to offer a shallow dish of mealworms at all times and supplement with the crickets and other feeder insects. this will keep the diet varied but will also allow the leo to consume as much food as it wishes to eat at any given time. |

Re: Feeding leos
Just a thought - if the gecko is not used to eating meal worms, eating a lot of them at once could 'clog him up' if you will. This is what happened to mine when I first got her and tried to 'vary her diet' by offering them and then she didn't poo for quite some time.
