you would still have to make sure you got all of it off afterwards so there is no residue whatsoever. they do lick their skin even after the shed is off sometimes.

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

I know that specifically the original type of dawn brand dishsoap has been used on all kinds of animals during oil spill clean ups simply because it is safe for the animals. Not saying that it is okay for use on a day to day basis or anything, but a tiny bit of residue probably won't be that detrimental.

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

I think the tile isn't so slippery it causes problems, but she does seem to like the paper towel better haha. I add it to half the tank so it works...just not as pretty. I can see how the sih soap shouldn't be ingested..but they do use it on animals cause it isn't harmful on the skin..or whatever..to clean them. I owuld definately use it as the last resort though.

You know I have the worst luck recently. I go and uy a large 3 in 1 shelter since the small was too small....and let me say not cheap...well it takes up like half the 20 long..so I am disappointed with that..but it is nice. I figure the medium would have probably been the right size. I am going to try to return it for a medium..problem is I got it off ebay...ahhh..so that would be a pain. OR I could upgrade to a 55 =) which would set off a long chain of events: here goes, opinions please!

I am fixing up a 55 for my crabs which will free their 55 in now...where I was going to put my fish...however, since this moist hide is too big for Sunshine...what if I put her in the crabs old 55 and then buy a tank for the fish (unless I can find one in the paper or yard sales? hopefully with a stand) PROBLEM though I run the risk of getting kicked out since I have too many tanks already (but I would be getting rid of acouple smaller tanks probably doesn't matter since I am replacing with larger ones which wont stop me cause I LOVE the pets and upgrading is fun....and makes me an my pets happy... so there is my dillema. ahhh I am making myself crazy. I hope they just let me return the darn thing so I can get on with my other projects =)
If you followed that crazy rant then thanks...and please what should I do?

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

the 55 would be a nice upgrade for her. Who would kick you out? are you in an apartment or something? If so, the main concern apartment complexes have with aquariums is the weight of the water. Since only 1 of the three would be full of water it should be fine.

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

i think she would love the upgrade. if I had the space I would upgrade my snake tanks as much as possible. i think it is also fun and love to find new ways to decorate the tanks to give my guys more space.

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

I will love to upgrade, but for now this is her 20 long with the huge mosit hide!

Does it look crowded? I hope she will be ok like that until I can upgrade for her. I need to do that chain of events before I can do it. She was already in the hide so I think she likes it. I just can't stand how much room it is taking up. I think in a 55 would look amazing! then who knows more geckos! and another critter in her 20L...see where this is going.

I am getting carried away already. i will be kicked out for sure. I am not in an apartment, but right now sharing a home...so it is crowded here too. I won't have any problems filling MY house up..but until it is MINE I have to be restrained.

Re: Shed Not Coming Off Toes!

Soaking her in a rubbermaid container with warm water seems the best solution to me. If the shed is stuck so bad that a q-tip won't do the job then use a pair of eyebrow tweezers and give it a gentle tug. It won't hurt the animal and may loosen it enough to get it off. Of course she isn't going to like soaking her feet since they aren't a water animal but sometimes you really need to just do it for her own benefit.

Holy cow Paige! She is a monster! Look at that tail. It seems like just yesterday she was an itty bitty baby.
