Moist Hide
Other than moss and paper towels, is there any other material that can be used inside a moist hide?
For some reason, he will not get inside of it if there's anything on the bottom on it. I could just spray the sides with water, but I wanted something to be a little more long-lasting since I'll wont be home for long hours of the days once my spring semester starts on Monday. I was also thinking about getting a large hut and putting a small water dish inside. I believe that would raise the humidity as well. Right now I'm not using a moist hide right now because the overall humidity in his cage and in my room is already at 50% so I'm trying to help naturally lower that without the use of a dehumidifier before that starts any respiratory complications for him.

Re: Moist Hide
You could try coco husk. They sell it under names like "forest bedding". It comes in a dry block and you mix it with water until it comes apart to a peat moss consistency. It's very good at holding alot of water. He shouldn't mind this on the bottom as it would be somewhat flat and unobtrusive.

Re: Moist Hide
I use moss in my moist hide and because it is very fibrous and tends to fall apart a lot, my moist hide is half a coconut on top of an overturned lid to a margarine container. This way the moss inside stays inside instead of getting all over my repti-carpet, but also, it keeps the water I spray on it from leaching out under the edges of the hide.
