He is beautiful! But alarmingly thin, as the others have said. Please let us know what the results of the fecal are when you get it done. It's good that he's eating well for you. What kinds of things is he eating regularly?

Re: Pictures of My Little One :)
Well for the first 3 weeks he had a constant supply of waxworms and mealworms... and then for the last 2 weeks it was just crickets and yesterday it was crickets and waxworms. But he's just not eating them as much as he needs too.
Thanks I'll let you know of the results. I'm calling the vet to see if I can just pick up a fecal kit because I don't know a safe way to transport him in the winter... Now that the crickets are gone. I'm picking up more waxworms today and I'm just going to try to feed him those. Thanks again. |

Re: Pictures of My Little One :)
You're going to feed him just waxworms? Or do mean waxworms in addition to something more nutritious than that? Remember, as Ken said...

Re: Pictures of My Little One :)
Okay...
As a little update... I called the vet today and they will need to see him sometime next week since all their appointments for this week are filled. I cannot just bring in a fresh sample because it's his first visit and the vets need to see him. As far as the food is concerned... Yes the waxworms will be offered in addition to something... there are still a few crickets left but for the most part, they're gone ... however tonight he will just be fed waxworms. If I am lucky he will eat 2 of the waxworms. Clearly by the pictures he doesn't eat a lot and right now I'm losing the battle of just getting him to eat. I am very stressed about this issue... however I do understand the importance of variety. I am not a beginner caretaker of leopard geckos... however this is my first time ever dealing with a leopard gecko, and a baby at that with any type of eating abnormality... My personal opinion, just by watching his behavior is that he isn't suffering from impaction but instead maybe a parasite. Right now... I'm just hoping that he doesn't have cryto (cryptosporidium). And if he does, he wasn't showing symptoms until a week or so after I bought him. I know he doesn't have a respiratory infection because of the temps and humidity level that his cage was kept at... and they are no apparent skin wounds. Once again, I would just like to say that I am not an ammateur leopard gecko caretaker but this is my first time dealing with this kind of problem. That was why I left the crickets in the cage in the first place... for a normal leo 10 or so small crickets would've been gone within a day or so... even one of his age. But now I'm just adjusting to his needs... and that's not an easy thing to do when all you want to do is provide the best care. |
