Question, please answer!

Hey, if I normally fed my one leo 20 mealworms, should I feed my 2 (housed together) 40? Like 20 for each gecko? Thanks, i wasn't too sure. I ran out of mealworms for last night, so I have to go get some, and I'm wondering how many to get. I'll probably get 100.

Hello,
Do you keep the mealworms in a shallow dish? You could easily purchase the 100 count and be ok. Actually, you could purchase a 500 count and be ok. After you feed the Leopard Geckos, place the container with the rest of the mealworms in the refrigerator. That will slow down their metabolism and prevent them from pupating. This would allow you more time to feed them before you ran out again.

I keep the mealworms in the refrigerator. But then I take them out and put them in a shallow dish when I feed them. So, do you think I should just put about 40 in the cage, and see how many I have left in the morning, and however many I have left, deduct that from the next feeding? Thanks for replying so fast!

Hello,
You can easily place the mealworms in the dish and just leave them there until they are gone. The Leopard Geckos won't eat themselves to death. They are aware when they are full and will just walk away after they have had their full.
Are you supplementing the Leopard Geckos with another type of feeder insect as well? Crickets are great exercise for the Leopard Geckos and are easier to digest than the mealies. Waxworms also make a great treat. Superworms are great for adults and grab their attention due to their energy and movement.Silkworms are the best feeder insect that can be purchased, but are relatively expensive in comparison to the other feeders.
