Rescued a BABY leo! Advice needed!

Hello!
I rescued a baby leo from a local petstore that had EVERYTHING wrong. They had him on calci-sand, no food, no humid hide, actually, no hide at all, and a heatlamp directly over the tank, with no way to regulate temp. ugh.
I got him home and put him in a 2 1/2 gallon. here's what in it. : Paper towel substrate, waterdish, humid hide (on the warm side), cool hide, calcium dish, and an Under Tank Heater covering about 1/3 on the bottom. Temp is 85 on the warm side, and 77 on the cool.
Before I put him in last night, I handfed him 3 - calcium covered pinhead crix, and 2 - calcium covered waxworms (he's sooo skinny! ). I put him in his setup. This morning before I went to work I got him to eat 1 dusted cricket. And tonight he ate 1 dusted cricket with a waxworm gut icing, lol. After that he would'nt take anymore, so I put some waxworm guts on his nose for him to lick off.
I want to get him into the vet, I'm going to have to wait until Friday though. Im soo scared of stressing him out any more. What's the best way to transport when It's cold outside? I was thinking out a hot water bottle wrapped in cloth inside an insulated lunchbox. This guy has got to be no more than 4 or 5 weeks old. Or he's just HORRIBLY malnourished. Here are some pix of him.
Thank you!

poor little skinny guy. That tank is way too small. There is no way to make a heat gradient in that. 10 gallons would be better, 20 would be great. If you are short on cash, go for a clear rubbermaid container for now. I'm surprised he ate at all because of the stress. I wouldn't leave crickets in there since they will snack on him. Offer them once or twice a day, but remove uneaten ones.

I agree with the size of the tank, how do you get a good temperature gradient in such a small tank? Good for you though for trying to help this little guy, he looks awful. I agree with the vet visit, the sooner the better.

If he starts refusing food i've got a slurry recipe I can give you, it works wonders on my troublesome cases.

well, now he is refusing food..i can get him to lick waxworm guts off his nose, but thats it. I'll pick up the stuff today, if you can spare a secret, lol.
Oh- and it hasn't pooped yet either. Going to the vet on Friday though, so hopefully they can tell me whats up.

Yeah but just try and explain to your housemate that you are using THEIR food processor to puree WORMS!
And then get ready to go buy them a new food processor!

LOL Yes and my other half is a reptile lover as well!
I can only imagine the response from someone who dislikes or barely tolerates them!
