Yeah.

Several years ago I had a few animals that ate mealies. I came home from work one day with a container of them, and set it on the table while I did something else (I forget now). All the sudden I hear an "EW! TYPHANIE!" from the dining room. My mother had taken the container, opened it, and just dumped it on her plate, then apparently realized that it was full of little bugs.

It still baffles me as to why she did that. Generally I don't just take a container of random stuff and dump it on my plate without even looking inside. I'm not sure what she was expecting.

She sure was angry, though.

Manda, let us know how it all turns out. Hopefully everything will be alright with him.

Gravy-ish is how I would describe the mix when I make it, generally I make about a ml at a time, I will refrigerate anything that doesn't get eaten and use it for later feedings that day.

Re: Rescued a BABY leo! Advice needed!

alrighty..well I made it. And he ate it!! It was the second most disgusting thing i've ever seen or smelled processed. The first most disgusting was when my dad decided to blend fish for bait (omg barf). He took it quite well..I got a medicine dropper and used that for feeding. Sucked the stuff up and he licked it off the end. He ate about a fourth of the dropper full. And then I made him finish it up with some water. I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, got an appointment at 4.
I think he may have pooped..it's a little solid white squished looking turd, and it's really hard. What does poop look like that comes from impacted geckos??
He's moving around quite well, despite his weak arm. He likes to climb up my arm I'll keep you posted!

Re: Rescued a BABY leo! Advice needed!

My little one wasn't quite that skinny when I adopted him, but pretty close! It took him a few days to get eating regularly, but I also had the advantage of adopting him after he'd already seen the vet and been hand fed for about a week by the pet store... then again, he also had no tail, a broken leg, and bits of skin on and between his toes.

Good luck

Re: Rescued a BABY leo! Advice needed!

Ok, so I took him to the vet tonight..they gave him a shot they tried to weigh him, he weighed .1 ounce. He's sooooo freakin tiny. They gave him an injection of calcium, b12 and a saline solution. They said it might help him digest better. I hope I made the right decision. *sigh* Wish me and Blitz good luck...i've grown so attached to him..he seems to be moving around all right, I'm going to try to feed him tomorrow...*double sigh*

Re: Rescued a BABY leo! Advice needed!

i no how you feel my local pet store doesn't take care of their animals either so when they got my leopard gecko in I bought it and everything I needed for it right away so it wouldn't have to go through what there other 2 leopards are going through, i mean more then half their adult leopards tank is filled with poop, 2 in a 10 gallon, 1 dry hide, no moist hide, the substrate is walnut, hardly any water, and they don't feed them much that I can tell, and then they got a fat tailed gecko in and put it in the terrarium my leopard was in and the only hide is on top of rocks, and the same situation with the adult leopards.
