Boggled bout heating options

Im very confused. I have been visiting some other forums recently and there seems to be quite the debate over how to heat a leo tank. I have one tank set up each way 1 with a reg bulb and Under Tank Heater and 1 with a IR bulb. Im just trying to figure out which way is really best for my situation. UGH man now I got a gigantic headache.

well the reg light is primarily for photoperiod regulation. Im ultimately trying to decide if I should get another Under Tank Heater for pebbles tank as autumn has one on hers. The IR was a cheaper alternative. Pebbles really seems to like her moist hide which has a bit of sphag moss and bed a beast in it. she is out n about all the time autumn on the other hand hides all the time.

Yeah when I first bought my leo, I have a regular basking light but noticed they never came out to get warm....especially since they are nocturnal. So I tried switching from a red light at night but couldn't devote myself to the hot bulb changing right before bed. So not to long ago I switched over to a Under Tank Heater and now my Leopard Geckos are always warm and just use natural lighting in the day for sunlight. They're a lot more active since they're not cold anymore so I thought that was a positive. Keep in mind that you need to have a cool side and I choose the cold side by their defecation area (wouldn't want that on the warm side.) Well I hope I helped.

Thanks again,

Well I have an Infrared Heat bulb that works rather well but doesnt give off visible light that the Leopard Geckos can see. I know about the temp gradient your supposed to have, at the time I didnt have the money for a Under Tank Heater so decided on getting the IR bulb.

Leopard Geckos generally need heat from the stomache. So it would probably be more worth it to get some kind of a under tank heating device. Adding to they usualy last alot longer than most bulbs.

Ok I have made a decision, Im going to get another Under Tank Heater next week once I get my workstudy pay check. Ill keep the IR bulb handy just incase I need it for something else.
Oh the IR bulb in a 10 gallon tank does create a gradient I checked this out earlier. Thanks for all your advice.
