ok tell me if your leopard gecko's do this, right before my leopard gecko strikes at a cricket to eat it he shakes his tail like a rattle snake.

Leopard Geckos do that any time they are excited.

Several of mine are tail twitchers before they pounce on their prey and others don't do it at all.

Travis was right though, it is also done when males are trying to indicate that they are male. It is not just done when other males are present though. It is also done when females are present.

When they tail twitch, especially when introduced to new cagemates or potential breeders, they do this to let everyone in the area know that they are the "alpha" male. If another leo in the enclosure is also a male, he will in turn rattle his tail. Thats typically when they will square off and a fight will ensue.

This is not only a male charecteristic though. Females will also do this when they are excited, and catching a cricket seems to be the ideal time for them to display this behavior. lol

Yeah I just got my baby leo last night and today I saw him wiggle his tale iv'e seen tokays do it, but it was really funny b/c he's soooooo tiny.
