Repti Carpet

I was looking at Repti Carpet on everything reptile. Does anyone know if this is washable? It didn't say anything in the description.

I want to put this in my leo's tank and was curious about washing it.

Re: Repti Carpet

I believe it is, you just rinse it out in the sink and let it dry. I haven't used it, but that's what it said when I looked at it online

Re: Repti Carpet

Hello,

It is 100% washable. In fact, I use it in several of my tanks.

You can wash it in the sink, tub, washer, etc. I wouldn't advise drying it in a dryer though. It takes literally minutes to dry completely if hung up. The water just runs through it.

The best approach is to buy 2. This way, when you wash 1, you can allow it to soak and dry without having to worry about waiting on it as one will always be ready for use. (I actually use 2 of almost everything at home including water and food dishes. It makes everything super quick as its just a matter of allowing the "dirty" stuff to soak and get rinsed while I simply just toss all the "clean" stuff in immediately.)

Re: Repti Carpet

Yup. I don't think it's machine washable, though, if that's what you're asking. I never tried it, but I think the machine might eventually tear it apart.

It's actually a good substrate because it's easy to clean and it poses no risk of impaction or mold like other substrates, but is still decorative.

Re: Repti Carpet

i used it for my red tail boa and loved it. i agree buy two sets, that way you can just switch it up for cleaning time. they dry really quickly too, just hang them and they're dry in minutes. an excellent product in my book.

I've machine washed mine for years. Never had a problem

Re: Repti Carpet

I machine wash and dry mine. No problems. I try to go very light on the soap, though, so as to reduce the chances of residue.

Re: Repti Carpet

I stand corrected. I was afraid the washing machine would tear chunks out of it, or the dryer would melt it. I guess I should have tried it some time.
