New Leopard Gecko - Needs TLC
Hello,
I decided to purchase a new leo today. I am not very good with the camera, but I did snap 2 shots. The pattern dictates he will be a jungle, but if the markings do fade, he will be a patternless. (Pray for patternless. lol) I am not good with the camera, so some of the color is washed out. His markings are MUCH darker than they appear. They are a chocolate color. As you will notice, he has a very thin tail. He was overcrowded and was living on calci-sand. Hopefully being housed alone, and on papertowel with adequate heating will jump start him a bit. I will make sure I try to remember to post a new pic in 30 days. lol Here he is. ![]() ![]() |

Re: New Leopard Gecko - Needs TLC
Congrats Rich,,,,,what a cutie. In your care that tail will be a fattie in no time. Looks to me that with aging it could well be patternless.

Re: New Leopard Gecko - Needs TLC
Poor guy! When my old fat-tail was sick and not eating, the vet gave me insectivorous diet formula. I mixed it with water and fed it to her with a syringe. They gave me a gavage, but it wasn't necessary. Anyway, I'm sure you know what to do. But, given my impatience level, I would be tempted to give the skinny little guy live food and a daily dose of formula as well. Just an idea... Anyway, I feel so sorry for him!
BTW, what's the difference between 'jungle' and 'paternless'? Do you have pics so I can learn the difference? And how many herps do you have? Sounds like lots... Jen Gal |

Re: New Leopard Gecko - Needs TLC
Hello,
I currently own 14 Leopard Geckos, 3 Bearded Dragons, 2 Ball Pythons, A Snow Corn, and 2 Girdled Lizards. Pending there are no issues with consumption of the previous substrate, I believe he will not require any force feeding just yet. I am already offering food, and his activity level is great. If I do not see a bowel movement in 2 days, then we will consider alternatives. I believe a lot of his weight issues pertain to the overcrowding. The larger leopard geckos would consume the crickets before this little guy had the chance. Now that he is isolated and without competition, I am hoping that he will readily consume whatever crosses his path. |
