fecal question
OK, I'm sorry to bring up such a tasteless subject, but I am trying to learn as much as possible, and I want to make sure this is OK. The Leopard Geckos excrement is two tone. Some of it is entirely white, some is brownish-green. These two are not intermixed, separate little droppings deposited at the same time, always in the corner.
I am curious about whether or not this is normal, and/or the significance of this. Jen |

Re: fecal question
What your seeing is perfectly normal and how all reptiles save water. The white portion is urates, and in the most sense urine with a low water content.

Re: fecal question
Interesting.
Thanks for the info. I have heard that camels don't waste water in their urine either. As a result, their urine is almost solid. Jennifer |

Re: fecal question
Hello,
The only time you need to worry about the stool from a leo is when it is runny and foul smelling. That is a typical indicator of parasites. Leopard geckos will have "solid" stools for the most part. ![]() |

Re: fecal question
Jen,, If your Leopard Geckos are like mine and go in the same spot ALLWAYS,,,you can place paper napkins there to make cleanup a snap !!!!! I change the napkin daily and the substrate weeky. Makes life a bit easier.

haven't gotten the snakes and the rest of thr critters to follow the Leopard Geckos lead yet though

-The white excrement is concentrated uric acid (I'm not sure if that translates directly into "urates" or not). The other part is the actual digested waste of whatever it ate.
