feeding mystery solved
I'm just posting this to share my joy!:
One of my leopard geckos has hardly eaten since I got him almost two weeks ago. In that time, I have only seen him eat 3 waxworms total. I started to think he was blind because he would turn his nose up at waxworms right in front of his nose. He may or may not have been eating crickets when I wasn't around, but I never saw him chase them when I was watching, whereas the other one did. Anyway, it turns out that he prefers superworms. I got some today, mostly because they don't need refridgeration and bec. I had heard that waxworms were too fatty. He jumped right on them! He has eaten three in the past two hours, and I'm thrilled. Just for a test, I offered him a few wax worms. He noticed them on the ground, went over and smelled them, then moved on. So, I conclude that he likes super worms better. I'm relieved to know that he will eat! Jen Gal |

Re: feeding mystery solved
Congratulations. However I would still not give up on the crickets. Mine was hesitant at first and would only take mealworns. After a few days she started eating crickets too.
And yes waxworms are very fatty!

Re: feeding mystery solved
Yes, it's amazing how those little critters can have dining preferences! My Leopard Geckos won't eat anything BUT crix, generally. Though I have one who will munch the hornworm caterpillars off my tomato plants...
