Re: Pictures!!!
Hello,
Cute leo! Is that calci-sand? I ask because that stuff is noted as causing hypercalcemia. You may want to seriously consider removing it if it is. (Babies shouldn't be kept on any sand btw. They are more prone to impactions than adults are.) ![]() |

Re: Pictures!!!
Nice leo. impactation is when the leo gets substrate (sand)in it's digestive tract that cannot digest. This causes numerous health issues. Even though the companies that claim it is digestible, studies prove it is not.

Re: Pictures!!!
Sand is dangerous to small Leopard Geckos, and calci-sand is dangerous to everything...just an accident waiting to happen.
I would strongly advise putting him on something more solid, like tiles, slate or carpet. Not only is it safer, having a solid substrate is more natural. Wait until he's full grown and then decide if you are willing to risk using sand with him (playsand, not calci-sand)

Re: Pictures!!!
Make a sand castle?
![]() Calci sand is absolute garbage! And "impacted" means that their digestive system gets blocked up and nothing can get thru. This means a trip to the vet for possible surgery.
