Senile?

It's the only explanation I can come up with for B*tchface's behavior lately.

She's atleast 10 years old and had a rough life before coming to me.

Usually you never see her, shes socialized, but prefers to stay hidden unless you make her come out.

Lately she has been sitting out and she stares and stares at you..
When you aren't looking at her she squeaks and screams and makes a racket and once you jump up to see what's wrong she runs and hides...

Does anyone have a gecko who screams her head off without provocation?

Re: Senile?

Yes, several.

My best breeder crestie makes a series of low pitch squeaks at me whenever she's held- she's very content and very talkative!

My meanest crestie squeaks at me everytime he's touched.

I have a cousin with a leo who's like 13-15 years old. That's old. All it does is (sigh) lay on an old heat rock all day. He won't change the heat rock at all, ugh.

As far as senility goes, my female gold skink is roughly 7, maybe 10 even. I'm thinking 7-9. Anyways, lately she's been...shall we say...super angry. Yes, I know, she's always that way. But she never bit my hand just for coming in her cage, nor did she attack my hand during feeding all the time (or ever). I think it's a type of aggression to mask lowering physical abilities on her part. Many animals do this.

Then again, maybe your leo thinks it's a blue tongue and it going through a 'phase'. Silly lizards.

Re: Senile?

Maybe she has schizophrenia. None of mine ever did that.

Re: Senile?

You said it's a "she" right. Well in my experience (no offense ladies) I've had more attitude from female reptiles than males. Currently I have a sub-adult female Ackie. She needs a smack.

Re: Senile?

Well she's never done this screaming psycho stuff before...she's also taken to dunking her face underwater in her dish.

Her habitat is the same, the only differences outside of her habitat are that Dizzy (who she always runs out to stare at if he's out) is going into season and i'm home alot more lately.

Maybe she's just mouthy...

Re: Senile?

Funny Funny...my male gecko is far worse off. He slams his face against the glass all day long, I cover the whole tank alot of he time to stop the thumping. I think his vision is so bad tht when he sees any movment he attacks.

ROFLMFAO! Actually...Skittles use to do that when I first got her...it would completely make me panic...She'd stare at me...and scream if I wasn't paying attention...but as soon as I'd look at her she'd be fine. First I thought she was sick and even went back to the breeder asking if she was ok and they told me they had a couple of really vocal ones and it's almost as if they want attention. The only difference with Skittles is she only did it as a baby and she wouldn't run away...she'd come investigate you.
