i got eggs!

This is Sadie's first clutch ever and she laid two not just one. She laid them on the paper towel and not the egg laying chamber, though I had noticed she was digging in there getting ready she didn't use it. So by the time I saw them it was 11:30 last night. She laid them sometime yesterday. They were stuck to the paper towels a little. I put them in vermiculite in a deli cup and have them in a Little Giant Incubator and I've got the temp set and it has been staying at 80 degrees. The eggs were a little dented in when I found them and one has firmed up quite a bit and the other is still dented. I hope they didn't dry out. Tell me what you think. Here are some pics:

Hello,
Congratulations! If the eggs are now in a container with the appropriate moisture, they have a chance. Seeing as none of us has the ability to know at what time the eggs were laid and for how long they were exposed to the drier air, we wouldn't be able to positively claim if they will make it or not.
Within 48 hours you will know for certain if the eggs are viable and have the ability to hatch. The eggs will "die" and it will be rather noticeable. mold may set in, and the eggs will collapse and turn to a very yellowish color.
I highly suggest that you do not disturb the eggs or open the container for the next 24-48 hours. Allow the humidity in the cup to do its job. Every time the container is opened, the humidity that has built up has been released.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Congratulations Xandra I hope you have some very lively babies on the way. How long does it take for them to hatch??

Well that depends on the temps. I'm trying to get females so my temps are a little lower. It will probably take about 2 months or little more.
